Ronnie Dorothy, age 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Ronnie was born August 3, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa to Forest and Mary (Sacco) Dorothy.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially camping and fishing. You could usually find him out splitting wood and doing yardwork with a cold Bud Light in his hand. One of his favorite past times was playing cards with his buddies. Ronnie always had a smile on his face and loved absolutely everyone – he never had a bad word to say about anybody. He had an ornery streak in him, especially when he was a young boy. Above all else, he treasured time with his family, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.

He is survived by his son, Mark Dorothy (Monica); daughter, Margie Dorothy (Jack Carmichael); nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; the love of his life, Tamara Moore; sisters, Pat Britt and Sharon Jaeger; and many other loving relatives and special friends.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Dorothy; parents, Forest and Mary Dorothy; and his son, Ralph Dorothy.

Visitation will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm. Private family burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society in loving memory of Ronnie.
