Arthur E. Flatt, Sr.

Arthur Eugene Flatt, Sr., 67, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2021 in his childhood home surrounded by family.

Arthur was born October 11, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa to Howard and Lillian Flatt. He worked for Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) as a dispatcher for nearly 30 years. He enjoyed camping, road trips, going to football and baseball games, and spending time with his loved ones.

He is survived by his children, Arthur Flatt, Jr., Bryan Flatt, Kristie Hynes, and Andre Flatt; grandchildren, Cody Flatt, Jeremy Flatt-Hynes, Cassidy Flatt, Aaron Hynes, Brittany Hynes, Cameron Flatt, and Alize Hynes; great-grandchildren, Devin Flatt, Preston Flatt, and Noah Alvarado; and other extended family and friends.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Lillian Flatt; and his siblings, Howard Flatt, Jr. and Patricia Bauer.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2021, also at Hamilton’s, and will conclude with burial at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
