Joyce Fowler
May 03, 2021
Joyce was born February 22, 1929 in Ocheyedan, Iowa to Chris and Eleanor Bremer. One of seven children, Joyce grew up in the farming community and graduated from Hartley High School, Hartley Ia. She was united in marriage to Hans Lee Fowler on August 9, 1947. To this union were born five daughters and two sons. The family lived in Northwest, Central and Eastern Iowa until Lee's retirement, when they moved to Adel, Iowa.
Joyce was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a devout believer that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. Her prayer was that all her family join her for eternity in God's heavenly Kingdom. Joyce and Lee were members of Faith Lutheran Church since moving to Adel in 1981, both active in the church until age limited their involvement.
Joyce passed peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2021 at the age 92. She was escorted by angels into the loving arms of Jesus with her children at her side. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on June 12, 2021 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Family will greet guests following the service. For those unable to attend in person, guests are invited to watch the service via live stream from the link below.
Joyce is survived by her children, Jackie (Jim) Peers, Sandy (Dan) Wiederholt, Patti (Paul) Grasso, Peggy Havener, Jon (Bonnie) Fowler, Kim (Tim) McKenna; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Virginia Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. Today Joyce is reunited in heaven with Lee, her loving husband of 70 years; son, Michael Fowler; grandson, Chad Briles; son-in-law, Craig Havener; her parents, siblings and all those who have gone before her in the faith.
And so we say with the Apostle Paul, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith, now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, not only for me but also for all those who long for His appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Joyce's name to Faith Lutheran Church in Adel, Ia with funds to be used for the Children's Ministry or EveryStep Hospice - Osceola ,715 W. McLane Street, Suite 100, Osceola, IA 50213

Aunt Joyce I will miss your smile and laughter. I will miss the drive from DesMoines to Estherville with you and Uncle Hans the stories you told me about the grandparents I never got to know. I love you both and will see you again one day. Condolences to my cousins JJ and her siblings and the rest of the Fowler family especially Aunt Nellie Phillips.
