Service Details

Janise Catherine Morlan, 83, passed away on April 30, 2021. She was born in Des Moines on June 3, 1937, the daughter of James and Marie Moore.

Janise retired from Preferred Risk Group, now Guide One, after 25 years of service.

Janise attended First Christian Church for many years before retiring to Springfield, MO. She then attended Asbury United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer.

Janise enjoyed spending time crocheting, knitting, playing on her tablet, reading, and gardening. She also loved spoiling her dogs and volunteering with the ladies auxiliary at the hospital and for the Iowa Genealogy Society.

Above all else, she cherished her family and absolutely loved spending time with her numerous children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Janise also loved getting pampered.

Janise is survived by her four children: Terri (Paul) Avery, JoAnn Beougher, Nancy (Dirk) Ver Steeg, and Richard (Michelle) Curtis; four step-children, Tim (Ellen) Morlan, Mike (Lisa) Morlan, LeAnne (Bobby) Fausett, and Kevin (Aimee) Morlan; daughter-in-law, Winnie Curtis; sisters, Anise (Jim) Tuma, Mary Blumhost, and Jane (George) Schwegler; 36 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley Powers, and her dear friend, Matt (Sonny) Greene.

In addition to her parents, Janise was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Morlan; two sons, Thomas (Tom) and William (Bill) Curtis; two grandchildren, her brother, Richard; and sister-in-law, Bessie Moore.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Visitation will be between the hours of 5-7 p.m. with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2021,
