Sandy Stromberg
May 01, 2021
Sandy Stromberg, 66, passed away at her home on May 1, 2021, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Through her courageous battle with cancer, she always maintained a strong willpower and a fighting spirit.
Sandy was born in Des Moines on March 31, 1955, the daughter of Roy and Mildred Kline. In 1969, she met Mark Stromberg Sr., whom she married in 1972. They were blessed with 3 children and 49 wonderful years together.
Her compassionate and loving personality was highly valued when she began her career as an in-home childcare provider. Being a caretaker was something she did with ease and excellence. Most recently, she worked at Goodwill, a job she absolutely loved!
Sandy was kind and welcoming to everyone she encountered. Whether she was lending a listening ear or a helping hand, Sandy had a heart for connecting with others and uplifting everyone around her.
Sandy loved the outdoors. Whether she was camping, fishing, or mushroom hunting; spending hours walking along the beach collecting seashells, attending baseball games, or enjoying a leisurely bike ride with Mark, she treasured the simple things in life.
Sandy was a selfless and devoted woman, Sandy’s greatest love and commitment of time was to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She had a passion for family values and loved hosting Sunday family dinners. Nothing could compare to the joy she got from spending time with her family, friends, and loved ones.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Mark Stromberg, Sr.; children, Sherri (Dana) Murphy, Shannon Cooper, and Mark “Marky” Jr.; grandchildren, Cole Murphy, Alyssa Murphy, McKenna Cooper, and Leo Stromberg; her siblings, Shirley Williams, Barbara Chapman, Rosemary Hannan, and David Kline, as well as other loving family and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mildred Kline, and her brothers, Roy Kline Jr., Edward Kline, Dennis Kline, and Joseph Kline.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Sunday afternoon at the funeral home from 2-5 p.m.

Sandy was one incredible lady! Beautiful, Smart, and loving. She loved her family and friends. She battled through all of the pain to be with them as long as possible. We are fortunate that Sandy did see her oldest grandchild Cole Murphy graduate from high school. Will miss those Beautiful Blue Eye's and Great Laughter. Sandy is in Heaven with God now. Sandy was a gifted Angel from day one, as she was born with TCU.. Trust, Care, and Understanding for all those that came into her life. She also carried a tab bit of sassy, stand to boldness, tac, and zap for those who ever tried to cross her. Sandy will be dearly missed, by all that were ever lucky enough to have meant her. God bless her, and her loved ones.
