Charles Joseph Nicolino

Charles Joseph Nicolino, 53, beloved son of Sarah (Amodeo) Nicolino and the late Cosimo D. Nicolino, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Bright Kavanagh House. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2009 at All Saints Catholic Church followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation along with morning coffee will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church preceding the funeral mass.
Charles was born in Des Moines on July 16, 1956, and graduated from North High School. Charles was a store manager for Kinney's Shoes, worked for Woolco and as a video technician at Video Images. He enjoyed bowling, camaraderie with his friends at Village Inn and Godfather's Pizza, and was a car enthusiast. Throughout his life he honored his father's WWII service to the U.S. Marine Corps. A devout Catholic, Charles was devoted to his mother, whom he faithfully visited every day at Ramsey Village.
Charles is survived by his mother, Sarah M. Nicolino; his aunt, Ascension Vito of Des Moines; his uncles: Joseph Costanzo of California, John (Phyllis) Nicolino and Howard Stalter both of Des Moines; and many cousins of the Nicolino and Amodeo families. He was preceded in death by his father, Cosimo D. Nicolino; his Nicolino and Amodeo grandparents; and many aunts and uncles and a dear cousin, Jay Stalter.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or All Saints Catholic Church.
