Gary Michael Fatino

Gary Michael Fatino, 81, passed away on April 21, 2021 at Mercy Hospital.

Gary was born March 1, 1940 to Michael and Bernice (Polich) Fatino in Des Moines. He was a lifelong Catholic. Gary opened, owned and operated Fatino’s Restaurant from 1972 to 1991. His passions in life were being a family man, gardening, cooking for the ones he loves and reminiscing. No ear fell silent when Po told his stories about the good ol’ days.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Becky Fatino; children, David Fatino and Carrie Fatino; grandson, Mitchel (Amanda) Fatino; great-grandson, Christopher Fatino; brothers, Edward (Victoria) Fatino and Frank (Cathy) Fatino; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Beverly Fontana.

The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28th also at the funeral home. Gary will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
