Service Details

Jacob Beck who was known as Beck to his buddies, was a marvelous and free spirit, whose life on this earth ended on April 17, 2021 in Mingo, Iowa. He was 24. Jacob was born on October 8, 1996 to Joel and Tina (Olson) Beck in Oklahoma City, OK. Jacob started his elementary school in Mustang, OK and then moved to Prairie City in 2003 where he attended PCM School, and then moved back to Oklahoma where he finished his education.

Jacob held many different jobs, but was set to start a new job on Monday. He really enjoyed working at Niagara Bottling in Oklahoma City where he learned how to drive a fork truck. He was an avid gamer who always had the most up to date games that he would spend hours beating. A canvas and a paintbrush were never far away, as Jacob had a love of painting. His dog, Crystal, was always by his side. Jacob had a love for his family. He started flying with his Grandpa Beck at a very young age who would pick him up in his plane to visit Iowa. Over the past year he was very close to his Grandma Wagaman who he lived with for a short time and liked going out to eat with and getting many, many haircuts from over the years.

But Jacob also struggled with addiction and mental illness over the past few years. It is right to acknowledge and honor the progress he had made while recognizing the toll that struggle took on his life.

Jacob is survived by his parents, Tina (Chad) Phifer and Joel (Laura Armstrong) Beck; siblings, Ethan Beck, Taylor Phifer, and Nathan Phifer; grandparents, Ginger Wagaman, John and Connie Beck, Duane and Kittie Phifer; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other loving family members; along with a great friend, Scott Blum.

Jacob was preceded in death by his grandpa, Jim Wagaman; great-grandparents, Harold and Vera Regnier, Ford and Florence Thompson, David Wayne Wagaman Paul and Pauline Beck, and Laurel Mae Wagaman.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at Prairie City Christian Church, 207 W 5th St, Prairie City, IA 50228. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be directed to AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport or Discover Hope 517 or a charity or your choice in loving memory of Jacob.
