Dickey Jacobs

Richard Lewis Jacobs (Dickey) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 74 on Saturday, April 17, 2021.
He was born February 4, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa to Gerald and Esther (Thies) Jacobs. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Dickey loved fishing, spending time with his family, gardening, woodworking, traveling, music, and playing his guitar.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda; son, Travis (Karen); daughters, Melissa (Jeff) and Monica; his grandchildren, Chelsea (Ben), Josh (Nikki), Cody (Asia), Morgan, Cortney (Dylan), and Troy (Maryah); great-grandchildren, Avery, Witten, Saylor, Willow, and soon to be Baby Remi; brothers, Jerry (Sandy) and Bob. Dickey was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Esther Jacobs; nephew, Bobby; daughters, Mary Jo and Kelli Lynn; and his in-laws, Orville and Marjorie Kellogg.
Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2021. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2021, and will conclude with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Family will greet everyone at the Home Lodge in Pleasant Hill after the burial from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

So sorry to hear of Dickeys passing. I live caddy corner across the street from him and Linda. Did not interact very much but I enjoyed our conversations. He always knew what was happening in the neighborhood. Will miss his friendly waves. My condolences to his family.

So very sorry to hear that Dick has passed away. Been so long since I had seen him, but lots of memories from going to elementary school at West Independent on Northeast side of Des Moines many years ago! May he Rest In Peace and prayers for the family. God Bless
