Jim Hutchinson Corderman, 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 16, 2021 in the comfort of his own home with his family.

Jim was born July 23, 1925 in Sac City, Iowa to Alvin and Kathryn (Hutchinson) Corderman. He was the youngest of four children, joining his two older sisters and older brother to complete their family. Jim grew up on the family farm and loved trucks and trains throughout his life. He join the U. S. Army in 1944 and was a veteran of WWII. He was a member of Company B, 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment. After his military service, he lived in Colorado and Oklahoma, but settled in Des Moines in 1959. Jim worked for Duff Brown Trucking Co. and Neumann Brothers during his working years. In his free time he enjoyed working with his hands – tinkering, building things, repairing, and woodworking. Of all things, family was of the utmost importance to Jim. He was always there for anyone who needed him. He loved talking on the phone with friends and extended family. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Hesser; grandson, Stanley “Wally” Fredericksen; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Kathryn Corderman; and his siblings, Alice, Martin, and Jean.

According to his wishes, cremation will occur and there will be no services held at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice in gratitude to their staff for their loving care.
