Twila Hadden
Des Moines
Twila Iolene Hadden, 93, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the Jewish Life Center in Des Moines.
Twila was born August 19, 1927 in Prescott, Iowa to Paul Keever and Hildred (Staples) Keever. One of three children, she graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1945 and moved to Des Moines shortly after. She quickly put her desire for a balanced checkbook to work as a bookkeeper. She worked for several businesses over the years in between raising her children, the one most notable is W-T Grants in Des Moines.
On August 10, 1947 she married Thomas B. Hadden Jr. They made their home in Des Moines and raised two children. Twila enjoyed taking vacations with her family. They would load up the car and take in the history they found along the way. She enjoyed her extended family, too. Weekends were filled with people of all ages coming together to share stories and laughter. In the beginning she was a young mother in the crowd, in the end, she was the wise matriarch. Her unconditional love and listening skills will be missed greatly by everyone who knew her.
Twila is survived by her children, Linda (Bob) Ervin and Tom (Tina) Hadden; five grandchildren, Don (Michelle) Lazorenko, Keri (Rich) Lee, Chad (Jessica) Ervin, Jeff Hadden, and Caleb Hadden; and five great-grandchildren, Zach (Amanda), Austin, Madison, Morgan and Paige.
Twila was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hadden, Jr.; sister, Pauline Krafka; brother, Don Keever; mother, Hildred Turner and step-father, Leo Turner; and her father, Paul Keever.
Family and close friends will gather to remember Twila and she will be laid to rest at Ottumwa Cemetery in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Furry Friends, a West Des Moines shelter for animals, at furryfriendsrefuge.org or to Taylor House, 3401 E. Douglas Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50317.
