Dorothy Darley Long

Dorothy "Dottie" Long, 90, died Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Dottie was born August 27, 1919 in Humeston, IA, to Ralph and Gwendolyn Gardner. She was a member of Windsor Heights Lutheran Church and enjoyed doing volunteer work at her church as well as at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Dottie is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Jerry) Free, Karen (Joel Holtz) Long and Barbara (Patrick) McClintock; sister, Lola Morey; grandchildren, Bret Holtz, Lisa Schaper and Erika McClintock; and her great-grandchildren, Jacob Schaper, Mark and Kailee Caranta and Jack Holtz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Long; sister, Virginia Baker; and her brother, Ralph "Gene" Gardner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2009 at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church followed by burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
