Beverly Jean Merritt

Beverly Jean (Andersen) Merritt, 85, passed away April 1, 2021. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, IA.

Beverly was born December 16, 1935 to Marinus and Mary Andersen in Dumont, Iowa. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Beverly enjoyed time with her family, grandchildren, and her many friends. Possessing the ultimate green thumb, Beverly loved working with plants and flowers and her many family recipes will provide a lasting memory of her. Beverly took great pride in her career as an elementary school teacher in the Amana Community School District and was passionate about education.

She is survived by her children, Dave (Shelley) Merritt and Susan (Wayne) Baer; grandchildren, Robert (Melodee) Baer, Sara (Tobin) Wyatt, Travis (Allison) Merritt, Emily (Tyler) Koonce and Katie Merritt; brother-in-law, Charles (Jean) Merritt; and sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Hayden and Marilyn Merritt.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, James, her parents, and her brothers, Junior Andersen and Delmar Andersen.
