Gene and I served together in the Civil Engineering Squadron Iowa Air National Guard. We deployed together several times. One of Gene's shining moments was when we were deployed to Biloxi. We had some huge trusses to set with no way to set them. Gene went to the Naval Base and talked to some SeaBees. He arranged for them to bring a crane over to the ANG base to set the trusses. Above and beyond! His work as First Sgt. was outstanding, as a laison between the Commander and the men he was always able to take care of the needs of the men/women and the Commander. My apologies for not being able to attend Gene's Celebration of life. But please know that I will pray for the family of my soldier buddy. Fly high Gene, you have your wings.

Shirley, I am saddened by the loss of Gene. You two were a living example of a Godly love. I could always see the love you two shared, even when you were joking. He will forever be with you and will be waiting with open arms to welcome you to Heaven!! Love you❤
