Service Details

M. Harold Ezzone, 66, of Waukee, Iowa passed away peacefully at home March 26, 2021 from complications of cystic fibrosis.

Harold was born at St. Mary’s hospital, Queens, NY and graduated from Sayville High School, Sayville NY. He is survived by his wife Jeanne Ezzone, sister Deborah Link Lengyel, daughter Kathileen (Keith) Crisp, stepson Aaron (Lori King) Hiltbrunner, granddaughter Megan Wolfe, great-granddaughter Paityn, and nephew Oren (Denise) Link. He was preceded in death by his parents Moreno H. and Jeanette Ezzone, sisters Harriet and Cristell Ezzone, and stepson Jeremy Hiltbrunner.

Harold was a “fix-it” extraordinaire and was a true entrepreneur. It started with science projects, then on to repairing any number of Volkswagen bugs and other various project cars, tooling around town in the dune buggy he built, building a tow truck and operating a business with it, owning a full service/repair gas station, developing a business for rebuilding torque converters, rehabbing vintage mini coopers he had shipped over from the UK, rehabbing/repairing various other cars, houses, vintage radios, TV’s, jukeboxes, trains and listening to big band music. He also achieved his dream to restore an old farmhouse (circa 1913) and turned his dream into a beautiful home for his family and friends to gather and share many wonderful memories.

He met the great love of his life, Jeanne Ezzone, in 1992. They traveled the byways of life together until he left this world.

He never gave up and persevered through all the trials of his life and health. He was so very grateful for all the love and support from his friends, family, neighbors, and medical community. They all played an integral part in his journey.

Given the current pandemic, a small celebration of life will be held for immediate family only.

The family invites you to share any memories, tributes or stories that can be read at the service. Please submit by Thursday, April 1 at 12:00 noon to Hamilton’s.

In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Cystic Fibrosis – Iowa Chapter.

Remember that two families made the decision to give Harold the chance to have 20+ extra years with us. Please consider sharing the gift of life and become a donor.
