March 24, 2021
Daniel “Butch” Wilbert Kline passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at his home at the age of 79. Dan, the son of Wilbert and Georgia (McGinnis) Kline was born July 27, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dan was married to Sharon, the love of his life for 54 years until her passing. He always called her his rock. Dan and Sharon were neighbors and teenage sweethearts. He picked Sharon up for their first date in his 1952 Chevy Bel Air that he still has to this day. He lived the majority of his life in Des Moines but moved to Scottsdale, AZ for several years which is where he and Sharon were married and where their three children were born. He was a devoted husband and father.
One of his favorite things to do was to visit casinos. He and Sharon enjoyed gambling on their days off. He liked to camp and often times ended up camping at a casino. He was an excellent cook. His specially was a pasta dish he created. He was expected to bring his pasta specialty to all the family gatherings. He was a talented artist and shared his paintings with family members.
Dan worked at Foremost Dairy while living in Scottsdale. He went to work at Anderson Erickson Dairy when he returned to Des Moines. Dan held many positions at AE Dairy. His last position was manager of the night shift. He retired from AE Dairy after 30 years. He was not content with early retirement especially since Sharon was still working. He joined Sharon at her place of employment at Courtyard Marriott in Ankeny. He enjoyed working at the same location as Sharon and treasured the many friends he made there.
Daniel is survived by his sister, Betty Wagner and many loving nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, sons, Daniel “Butchie” and Dean, daughter, Sue Ann, his parents Wilbert and Georgia and sisters, Barbara Flagg, Ruby Liggett and Shirley Scott.
Dan was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
