Erie Ernest Goodson

Erie Ernest Goodson, 95, passed away March 20, 2021. Services will be at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA on Friday, March 26 with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. and the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Van Meter Cemetery.

Erie was born August 6, 1925 in Van Meter, IA to Catherine (Taylor) and Ernest Goodson. He graduated from Van Meter High School in 1943 and worked as a meat cutter and later in the hospitality industry at the Kirkwood and Fort Des Moines Hotels. He retired from Principal/Bankers Life in 1986 as Supervisor of Maintenance. In his retirement he owned his own ceramic business. Erie was very active with the Central Senior Center Site Council since 1994 and served as Vice President. He was also an Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of the Mason’s and a Shriner for over 50 years.

Survivors include his nieces, Nancy (Tom) Seddon, Judy Cropp, Pat Christensen and Pamela Cody; and many great-nieces and nephews.
