Patricia A. Leer, 78, passed away on March 16, 2021, in Mingo. She was born in Newton, Iowa on January 31, 1943, the daughter of Walter and Charline Hobbs.
Patty graduated from Newton High School. She married her husband, Ron on November 18, 1961. Patty owned and operated a beauty shop in Newton for 15 years. In 1977, Patty and Ron moved to Ankeny where they built a house and raised their family. She worked in banking in the Ankeny area.
Patty was a talented guitar player and loved singing in the church choir. She enjoyed gardening, and planting trees and shrubs. She loved dogs, especially black labs. Her greatest joy was raising her boys and being around her family.
Patty is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ron; children, Shane, Patrick (Tricia), and Jason (Maria Shulga); grandchildren, Connor and Bella. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Larry Hobbs and Bonnie Burnett.

I absolutely loved working with Pat at the bank! She was one of the nicest, biggest hearted people i know! I enjoyed seeing her and Ron(and getting to know Ron too). Sending my sympathy to all of you! She touched a lot of lives with her kind spirit! 💗.

Ron & the Leer Family, I am sorry to hear of Pat's passing. I so enjoyed the years I worked with her at the bank, her stories, especially of traveling, Hawaii, and her Faith. God Bless and bring you peace during this difficult time.

Ron, we are so sorry for you loss of that lovely lady of yours. I have only been in the family now for 3 years but I got to know her and she was a wonderful lovely lady that I loved. She will be missed by all but we will hold her tight in our hearts and mind. She is in God arms again and she is watching over all of us and she is keeping her arms around you.
