Rene Paddock

Rene Arthur Paddock, 81, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 12, 2021 after a short battle with cancer. He was born on June 9, 1939 in Three Lakes, Wisconsin to Wayne and Esther Paddock.

Rene attended Faith Baptist Bible College and graduated from Clarksville School of Theology. He had the privilege of being the Lead Pastor at Woodland Community Church for over 20 years and was currently attending Alathea Baptist Church. Rene also worked for SE Polk Schools for over 20 years as a carpenter and custodian.

Rene enjoyed collecting antique toy cars and never missed an opportunity to go fishing when he could. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rene is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce Paddock; children, Brenda Richardson and Neil (Barb) Paddock; daughter-in-law, Lisa Paddock; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Donny (Judy) Paddock; sister, Kathy Anderson; sister-in-law, Elfrieda Paddock; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rene Paddock, Jr.; granddaughter, Hannah Paddock; brothers, William and Wayne Paddock; and sister, Patricia Ring.

The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Aurora Avenue Bible Church, 5 NW Aurora Ave, Des Moines with interment to follow at Powers-Warren Cemetery near Runnells.
