I was so saddened to hear about this. I remember vividly the family reunion where Steve had his Corvette with him. He took me for a spin in it to show me what it could do. By the end of his demonstration I felt like that scene in "Ford v. Ferrari" where Carroll Shelby took Henry Ford II for a test ride in a prototype Mustang. I admit being freaked, but I remember it fondly.

My daughter Graduated from east with Steve so when a friend of mine called me and told me I called her. She had seen him at Hill Top Restaurant and spoke with him and invited him to there 30 yr.class reunion ( this was a few years ago) he asked how to get tickets and she told him.she said he did come and she got to see him again.A lot of his friends talked highly of him and remembered back in the day as they say.The Kirkpatrick name kind of rings a bell with me but I cant put a finger on it.So sorry for your loss to everyone who new him and especially to all his family.
