Beatrice Blake

Beatrice Blake, was the second oldest child of five from the union of Joe Cline and Ella Brown Cline. Beatrice was born in Hope, Arkansas on July 23, 1915. After the passing of Ella Cline, Beatrice served as the mother for her two younger sisters, Grace (deceased) and Lola Mae, and brother Joseph (deceased).
Beatrice met and married Hilton Blake on March 16, 1935. After Hilton’s death in Wichita, Kansas, Beatrice joined her sister, Grace Taylor in Des Moines, IA. There were no children born to the union of Beatrice and Hilton Blake. Beatrice decided to make Des Moines her place of residence until her passing.
Beatrice attended Corinthian Baptist Church in Des Moines for a number of years and enjoyed the Christian fellowship there.
Beatrice’s cherished loved ones include her sister, Lola M. Johnson and her husband, Clifford E. Johnson, Sr. (Los Angeles, CA,), her nieces Barbara McGhee Johnson (LA, CA.) and Patricia L. Johnson Chatman and her husband, Anthony Chatman, Sr. (LA, CA), nephews, Clifford Johnson Jr (LA, CA.) and Wayne Johnson Sr. (LA, CA), a host of grand nephews and nieces, other devoted family members and church friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10 am Tuesday at Chapel Hill Cemetery. There will be a memorial service at 1 pm Tuesday at the University Park Nursing and Rehab, 233 University Avenue.
