Kathryn "Kaye" Stout

Kathryn Ann "Kaye" Stout passed away Sunday, September 20, 2009, at Trinity Center at Luther Park.

Kaye was born March 8, 1925, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to M.J. and Mary Tomich. Her mother passed away shortly thereafter, so Kaye was raised by her maternal grandparents, August and Katarina Starcevich in Woodward, Iowa. She married Leon Lewis Stout and to this union was born one daughter, Terri K. Stout.

In her younger days Kaye enjoyed laughing, dancing and having a good time. She worked at Bishops in downtown Des Moines for several years before becoming a homemaker to care for her home and family. She then worked at Younkers in downtown Des Moines for many years before her retirement. Kaye also enjoyed cats, craft shows, flea markets and the Iowa State Fair. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, ex-husband and daughter. Left to honor her memory are her cousins, a brother in Council Bluffs, nieces and friends.

Her body has been cremated and memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with inurnment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Madrid. The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Animal Lifeline of Iowa. Hamilton's Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
