Richard Lavan Wagner, Sr., 53, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.
Richard born August 12, 1956 in Des Moines to Virgil L. and Flora Mae (Lowery) Wagner. He was a hard worker all of his life. Richard worked at General Mills for 15 years and most recently was working for ATec. He was an avid sports lover, especially boxing and football and also enjoyed gardening. Richard’s true passion in life was his family, spending time with them and helping others.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Wagner. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Richard L. (Ashley Mohr) Wagner, Jr., Rashad, Johnny, Brandon and Ashley Adair, Gabriel, Latyia and Kamessha Johnson; mother, Flora Mae Wagner; fiancé, Barbara Adair; siblings, Shannon (Theresa) Wagner and Curt (Alice) Wagner, Kim Wagner-Young, Lulu, Connie, Tony and Louis Branch; and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private family burial will held at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Richard.

To the Wagner Family:
It was with a great sense of loss when I heard of Ricky's death. I wanted to let you know that you have my greatest sympathy.
