Bessie Guy

Bessie Cornelia Guy, 67, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 1, 2007. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Morning Star Baptist Church in Des Moines and funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Taylor Chapel CME Church in Germantown, TN with burial at Memorial Hill Gardens in Memphis, TN.
Bessie was retired hair designer and was self employed for more than three decades. She was born on April 11, 1939 in Memphis, TN.
Bessie was preceded in death by her son, Finnis Guy and her parents, Allie Joe and Agnes Guy. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Anntinette (Leroy) Scott and Equinsia (Beverly) Guy, both of Des Moines; Rechelle Harrison of Dallas, TX and Willie (April) Guy of Topeka, KS; six sisters, Virgie (John) Neville of Des Moines, Josephine (Willie) Norman, Agnes (Cleo) Anderson, Dr. Hattie (Edward) Isen, Dorothy (Talbert) Jackson and Yvonne Guy all of Memphis, TN; three brothers, John (Evelyn) Guy, David (Maxine) Guy and Allie Joe (Audrey) Guy, Jr. all of Memphis, TN; eleven grandchildren whom she cherished greatly; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
