Norman Dobson
March 04, 2021
Norman Eugene Dobson, age 85, took his final flight home on March 4, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. Norman (Stormin’ Norman) Dobson was born February 17, 1936 in Lineville, Iowa to Clarence and Edith Dobson. He had one sibling Bill Dobson.
Stormin’ Norman was a true patriot, loved his country and served in the U.S. Army from June 1959 through June 1961. His service allowed him to follow his passion and love of flying by using his G.I Bill to take flying lessons. From there he soon became a flight instructor, charter pilot and corporate pilot. He loved to travel and took many trips with his wife Diane and his children. He especially loved his trips to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for canoeing and fishing, a passion he has enjoyed since he was a kid. Norman grew up on a farm until high school where he learned his hard work ethic and his handyman skills. He enjoyed helping his family and friends with multiple home improvement projects. Hobbies included snow skiing, as he took multiple trips as a member of the Iowa Ski Club, and he loved cheering on the Hawkeyes and Cyclones.
Norm is survived by his loving wife Diane Dobson; daughters Lisa (Joe) Strnad, Cindy (Mark) Miller, sons, Mike (Sue) Dobson, Steve (Jackie) Dobson and 5 grandchildren Riley, Drake, Macie, Trevor and Hunter; many nieces and nephews as well as other loving family and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Edith and his brother Bill and sister-in-law Becky.
A private memorial will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home.
In loving memory of Norm, memorial contributions can be made to the VA Central Iowa Health Care System (VACIHCS).

He always made our family chocolate chip cookies every time we took a vacation for the kids to enjoy on the road. We are so sorry for your loss. He touched so many people is such positive ways simply by being Norm: kind, warm, and inviting. The number of people fondly remembering him likely will fill all the seats in all the flights he ever flew - ten times over. He will be missed but certainly not forgotten. Our love to all of you.

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of Norm. We enjoyed skiing and apres ski with him. I can still see him dancing on the table with his ski boots on!!! He helped me learn to ski at Aspen many years ago. We always enjoyed talking to him and Diane.
I was surprised to learn that two of my favorite drug reps at IDEC were his son and daughter-in-law!
Please accept our condolences.

So sorry for the loss for your family. I worked in the office at All-State Belting and after he retired, he'd bring in plates of chocolates chip cookies. Always had a smile on his face. A very kind person.
