Steven Ray Wilson

Steven Ray Wilson, 78, passed away March 3, 2021. Services will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA with visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by the funeral at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes, IA.

Steve was born May 10, 1942 in Des Moines, IA to Belva (Adams) and Roscoe Wilson. After high school he worked for Crescent Chevrolet in Des Moines and a few years later, he and a partner started their own garage. Steve later took flying lessons and eventually became a flight instructor. He moved to Missouri and bought a resort which he operated for several years until its sale. Soon after, he began working for IWX Motor Freight in Springfield, MO until his retirement at the age of 63. He then retired to Table Rock Lake where he could boat and fish. Steve loved to travel and enjoyed spending time in Florida each year.

He has been married to his bride, Constance Ivers Wilson since 1962. The couple raised their family in Johnston, IA and eventually moved to Missouri.

Steve is survived by his wife, Constance Wilson of Lampe, MO; son, Steven Ray Wilson, Jr. of Morgan City, LA; daughter, Judi Hymen of Prairie City, IA; 5 granddaughters of Branson, MO and Des Moines, IA; 3 great-grandsons in Des Moines; and 1 great-granddaughter in Des Moines.
