E. Dianne Storrs
February 28, 2021
E. Dianne Storrs left our loving arms on Sunday, February 28, 2021, after a beautiful life here on earth.
She was born in Des Moines July 28, 1934, to Herman and Euarda (McVey) Schuling. She married Kenneth Storrs on January 9, 1954, and proceeded to set forth the best example a mother and father could provide to their family. Dianne was a very hands-on wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend, always going out of her way to offer advice, humor, generosity, and pure unconditional love to everybody she met. She was a very genuine person and an absolute delight to be around.
She was a staple in Valley Junction for 33 years running Dianne’s Antiques. Dianne battled Alzheimer’s for nearly five years and died of natural causes at 86 in her home, as she wished, surrounded by her family and friends. The family was blessed as she declined very slowly after her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s due to the love and support that she received from her daughters, caregivers, and in the later years, Kindred Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Susan; siblings, Herman Schuling and Patricia Riley; her parents; and many aunts, uncles, and friends. Heaven is truly rejoicing while we here on earth have to learn to live without her.
She is survived by her children, Janet (Marc) Cochran, Cathy Ziebell, and Denise (Ron) Bagley, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and sister, Marjorie (Jesse) Cortez.
The family would love to say a huge thank you to Beth Kuntz, Debbie McCampbell, Vanessa Harrison, Flora Danhauer, Jamie Henderson, Kindred Hospice (Jeanette Jones and Jesse Clark), for their caregiving and nursing services that they so lovingly and humorously provided. An extra thank you to Robyn Brundage for going over and above as a friend, caregiver, adopted daughter, and a little sister to us all, and to Ron Bagley whom she had a relationship with that was pure and fun. Many of these people have said that mom “changed their lives and didn’t even know it”. She did. She changed everybody’s life in a very good way and lived a very blessed life.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2021, also at Hamilton’s, and will conclude with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Dinner to follow burial at Saylorville Event Center, 3081 NW Prairie Ln.,
Des Moines, IA 50313.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Iowa.

My heart goes out to you for the loss of such a sweet and amazing woman. I knew Diane from her shop, spent many times just talking, and visiting. Felt the genuine love and concern each time.
As she tried to fine me a boyfriend when I was alone, bought things from me after my surgery as I was out of work, and just cheered me up being herself.
I miss her. So sorry.

SO sorry to hear of Dianne's passing. She was a fun and special lady! Many good memories with her--my favorite was when rocker Alice Cooper came into her shop (in jeans, tshirt) almost 7 years ago and we three were carrying on a conversation about types of music for about 10 minutes without realizing who he was. When I finally told him he looked like Alice Cooper (and he finally convinced me he was) Dianne still had no idea who he was. She asked him, "What was your name again?" He replied, "Alice Cooper." Dianne replied so seriously: "Alice?? What kind of a name is that for a guy?" Made him and I laugh. I have alot of good memories with her.
