Scott Swan
February 27, 2021
John Scott Swan was born January 17, 1960 to John and Marjorie Champ Swan. A loving and playful boy Scott was tragically hit by a vision impaired driver at the age of three and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He wasn’t expected to survive. Scott not only survived but thrived. Without complaint, Scott confronted the severe physical and cognitive challenges he was dealt and triumphed to be a successful member of the Des Moines Iowa community. Scott graduated high school, maintained his own apartment as an adult, and was a trusted and loved employee of Dahls Grocery store for 17 years. Scott made many friends throughout his life and was always good for a joke, a laugh, a kind word and helping hand for others. Scott was well versed in both the history and current events of his beloved home town, Des Moines Iowa, throughout his life.
Scott passed away on February 27, 2021 after a series of health issues. He was predeceased by his mother Marjorie Champ Swan. He will be missed by those that survive him, especially father John Swan, sisters Sue (Kevin) Hartnett, Shellie (Chuck) Reitzel, nieces and nephews, Beau (Ellen) Boskey, Brianna (Chad) Frislie, Ben Boskey, Aimee (Paul) Melodia, Alaina Hartnett, Alex (Nichole) Hartnett and three great nephews, Jasper, Aksel and Bjorn Frislie, and beloved cousins and life-long friends.
Scott will be remembered at a Celebration of Life gathering later this year.
Scott’s family extends special thanks to the staff of Methodist Medical Center who cared with compassion and kindness through his life-long journey.

John & Family,
My deepest and utmost sympathy is extended to you all. I know you thought the world of Scott John, and even though I did not know him well I am sure he felt the same about you, and appreciated the way you took care of him and looked out for him all through his life. He was blessed to have you by his side.
