Our introduction to Ted was when he taught a CPCU class at Drake in the early 70s. It has been our privilege to get to know him even better when he organized study groups for various Insurance courses that aided both our careers in Insurance. I always thought of him as "Mr. Insurance". We are saddened beyond belief. Just as Ted always loved preservation of historical knowledge, let us always remember the many virtues he had and inspired in others.

I first met Ted in 1983 when I moved to Des Moines and quickly learned that without Ted's passion and contributions to the Insurance Industry, we all would have missed out on many things. Thank you for all you did, Ted. We have all benefited from your hard work. RIP Ted Lussem.

I don't know that there are adequate words to describe Ted's impact on the world.
I met him on the CPCU board where his advice, knowledge, perspective, and mentorship were invaluable.
From travelling with Ted in "Teddy's Taxi", board meetings, and the surprise birthday party, I have many fond memories of Ted which I know I will carry with me forever.
Ted - thank you for sharing your love, passion, advice, and friendship with generations of insurance professionals. We will miss you.

I met Ted many years ago while working off duty (police officer) security at Broadlawns Hospital -where Ted was on the board. From that time on whenever we ran into each other Ted always took the time to stop and talk for a while. He was truly a very nice guy. His family will indeed miss him. As will all who knew him over the years will.
