Linda Sue Smith
February 21, 2021
Linda Smith, 67, passed away at Iowa Methodist Medical Center on February 21, 2021. She was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on March 3, 1953, the daughter of Emmett and Patricia (Bloomfield) Smith.
Linda’s love of cooking led to her 20-year career at Knox’s Café where she made many lifelong friends.
Linda loved the holidays and quilting; however, nothing could compare to the enjoyment she got from spending time with her family, especially her niece and great-nephews.
Linda was a selfless woman with the most generous heart, always willing to give of her time to others, oftentimes putting their needs before her own. She was a great listener, had the best smile, and most contagious belly laugh that will be missed by all who knew her.
Linda is survived by her sister, Betty (Frank) Davis; niece, Dorene (Rodney) Gallant; and her great-nephews, Nicholas and Jacob Gallant. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Patricia; her maternal and paternal grandparents, and her beloved four-legged friend, Amber dog.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines. A private family inurnment will take place at Woodland Cemetery at a later date. The family respectfully requests all guests wear masks and practice social distancing.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Linda.

Linda was always so friendly at Knox's Cafe. Her homemade beef and noodles was my husband, Burdette's favorite. We always loved seeing her on Friday nights before bowling. Much love to your family.
