Daniel Foley

Daniel Webster Foley was born on March 7, 1928 to Pricilla Lowe and John Foley. He passed away on February 17, 2021 in Genesco, Illinois.

He grew up on the South side of Des Moines and attended Lincoln High. Daniel served in the Army in the Engineering and Construction Battalion from 1945 to 1947. He married Charlotte Diekmann in 1950. They lived in the Hartford and Carlisle area until the mid 1980’s. In the early years he was a heavy construction operator. He worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber from 1961 to 1985 as a tire room mechanic. After retiring at Firestone he worked for the City of Des Moines as a construction inspector from 1988 to 1994.

Daniel was dedicated to taking care of his wife for many years as she had Alzheimer’s and died in 2016. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and a founding member of Holy Cross Lutheran in Carlisle.

He is survived by sons, Daniel, of Geneseo, Illinois, Travis, of Des Moines; daughter, Tami Johnson, of Sacramento, California; four grandsons; one granddaughter; and five great grandsons.

The family will greet friends Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 10 am to 12 pm with the funeral service to follow at 12 pm at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Daniel will be laid to rest at the Carlisle Cemetery.
