Isabelle Swanson

Isabelle Swanson, 92, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2021 at The Village in Indianola.

Isabelle was born October 15, 1928 in Sublette, Missouri to Henry and Flossie Gregory. She graduated from Green Top High School in 1946 and was the star of the basketball team. She met Herb Swanson on October 5, 1954 and married him on October 29, 1954 in Kirksville, MO. They had a loving marriage that lasted 52 ½ years.

Isabelle cherished time spent with her family. Which included mandatory Sunday dinners, Saturday shopping trips, and attending all of their activities. She also enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, bingo, word searches, and going to church. She was an avid San Antonio Spurs fan and loved watching the Royals and Cardinals baseball teams.

Isabelle is survived by her daughters, Shauna (Rick) Ries and Debra Dresback; grandchildren, Marinee (Tim) Fulmer, Ryan (Kym) Dresback, Amanda (Russell II) Laffoon, and Brett (Sara) Ries; great grandchildren, Camren Laffoon, Maxx Laffoon, Dylan Dresback, Olivia Dresback, and Nash Ries; brothers, John (Margaret) Gregory and Leon (Judy) Gregory; sister-in-law, Wilma “Jeep” Swanson; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Herbert Swanson; son, Herbert Jr.; best friend for over 50 years, Loretta Marchesano; granddaughter, April Ries; parents; and sisters, Wanda Smith and Freda Pearl Butler.

The family will greet friends Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Isabelle will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed the family in loving memory of Isabelle to be donated to a charity close to Isabelle’s heart.
