Service Details

After bravely battling cancer and other ailments for over 13 years, on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, Kathy Lynn (Kringle) Luther, passed away at the age of 61.

Kathy was born on May 17, 1959 in Dubuque, Iowa to Delos “Chris” and Mary Rose (Kiefer) Kringle. Many memories were created growing up in her bustling house with 7 siblings (Kim, Kenny, Debbie, Delos, Diane, Sharon and Loren). In 1983, she married her adoring husband, John Luther, and the couple moved to Altoona, Iowa. A year later, she had her daughter, Jacqueline Rose. Kathy spent 30 years working for Qwest Communications before retiring in 2010.

Kathy was a beautiful, brave and independent woman. Above all else, she poured her heart and soul into loving her family, fur babies and friends. A specialty of Kathy was bringing individual happiness to others in the way of personalized gifts and meaningful notes - true to the “Kringle” giving spirit. Her contagious laughter and knack for crazy nicknames (that somehow always ended up sticking!) brought joy to those around her. The things that brought Kathy the most enjoyment were being a Mimi to her grandkids, watching westerns and hosting incredible nights on her porch with great friends blasting music, drinking wine and enjoying fancy cuisine.

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline (Joseph) Fiderlick, step daughters - Jennifer (Ean) Monday, Meagan (Christy) Luther and grandchildren - Sydney, Carson, Grayson and Asher. She is also survived by her sisters, Kim, Debbie, Diane and Sharon as well as so many of her close friends who loved her dearly.

In life, Kathy brought warming inspiration to those around her. In death, that warmth will live on in others as a legacy for generations to come.

A celebration of life will be held from 3 – 5 pm on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St. SW, Altoona. The family respectfully requests all guests wear masks and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
