Charles Reed Ball

Charles R. Ball (71) of Des Moines passed away at Mercy One Medical Center on Friday, February 12, 2021.

Charles was born to Alva and Edna (Anderson) Ball on June 8, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa. Charles was also known as “Chuck” or “Charlie”.

Chuck was one of four children and grew up in Hartford, Iowa before graduating Carlisle Community Schools. He worked most of his life at Delavan’s Corp in West Des Moines. His hobbies throughout his life included breeding and hunting with black and tan coonhounds, working with livestock, and traveling across the United States with racehorses.

Charlie is survived by a sister, Emalee (Ball) Miller; three daughters, Deanna Campfield (Dan), Angela Cook, and Tanya Soumas-Wood (Fuzzy); 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Ball Sr., sister Bessy “Virginia” (Ball) Bright, and son-in-law Bronson Soumas.

Family will not be holding a service at this time but condolences can be sent to the family online or mailed to 2914 Dean Ave, Des Moines, IA 50317.
