June Eloise Cornelius, age 107, entered eternal life on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the Iowa Jewish Life Center in Des Moines. She was born the daughter of Jacob and Kittie Cornelius on June 30, 1913 in Pella, Iowa.
June graduated from Eddyville High School in 1931. She was employed with Telephone Co. in both Eddyville and New Hampton, IA. June transferred to North Carolina in 1942 and worked at Ft. Bragg Military Reservation in the signal office and Marine Air Station in Cherry Point, NC. Later, she sold Yellow Page directory advertising for 10 years. June returned to Des Moines in 1956, employed as a cashier at Northwestern Bell. She retired in 1978 with 34 ½ years served. June also worked part-time for over 20 years as receptionist at Scottish Rite Park.
June attended her 75th Eddyville class reunion in June 2006. Holy year pilgrimage to England, France, and Italy in 1950. She was a member of Telephone Pioneer of America, CWA Retired Club, Catholic Daughters of America, St. Ambrose Cathedral, and Mercy Guild. Also, several environmental and humane organizations. June enjoyed being around people, travelling and trips to Prairie Meadows Casino.
She is lovingly survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 18, 2021 at St. Ambrose Cathedral, 607 High St., Des Moines. She will be laid to rest at Eddyville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to either American Red Cross, St. Ambrose Cathedral or the Animal Rescue League in her memory.

I was fortunate to have known June for over 50 years. She was my mother's best friend. She was an excellence listener with a steel trap mind. She was passionate and very generous giving to many organizations that supported her faith, peace and wildlife. It is nice to know that I have an angel who watches over me and my family.

June was such an amazing lady, and a wonderful friend to my family. So thankful for the full and joyful life she lived. We'll miss you so much. Heaven has gained a very special angel.

Going to miss my June she had a special place in my ❤. She was like family. She was so sharp that she new when her shower was and would always tell if she had a good one or not. Amazing woman for sure!!

June had a very long life and Im sure she had many a story to tell. Wished shed wrote a few funny situations she may have had with the phone company. I worked for the phone company for 40 years myself.
