Sharon Kay Jackson
February 09, 2021
On February 9th, 2021, Sharon took her final breath on this earth and went to her eternal home in heaven to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held at Capitol City Church in Des Moines on Saturday, February 13th at 11:00 a.m. The family invites everyone to a public viewing on Friday, February 12th from 4:00-8:00 p.m., also at Capitol City Church.
Sharon was born on August 3rd, 1945, in Des Moines, and was raised by her mother and stepfather, Eleanor and Robert Lorey.
As a youth, Sharon attended Canary Lake Elementary, Woodside Junior High and Saydel High School.
On December 15th, 1962, Sharon married the love and man of her life, Larry Jackson. Sharon and Larry shared over 58 years of marriage and gave birth to three sons, Larry, Bobby and Steve.
Sharon was a lifelong, devoted, and active member of Capitol City Church. She took great pride in doing the Lord’s work by leading and organizing meals for activities such as weddings, funerals, anniversaries, graduations, and Capitol City’s annual Easter breakfast. Sharon was also leading a local missionary outreach team for Capitol City’s “City Serve” ministry. Sharon’s team was in charge of distributing gift baskets to the Polk County Sheriff’s Department.
Sharon also dedicated her life to supporting her sons, grandkids, and great-grandkids in all of their various activities. Whether it was dirt track racing or high school track, baseball, football or softball fields, or volleyball courts, dance recitals and wrestling meets, Sharon was going to be there.
In recent years Sharon enjoyed spending time with her husband Larry watching Cyclones football and basketball games and Royals baseball games.
Sharon was preceded in death by a son Robert Andrew, her parents Eleanor and Robert (Lorey), mother- and father-in-law Carmelita and Ralph (Jackson), and nephew Dave Anderson.
Sharon is survived by her husband Larry; sons, Larry and Steve (wife Kathy); grandchildren, Shane (Taylor), Chelsie (Brad) Courtney, Cole (Katie), and Stevi (fiancé Justin Bundy); great-grandchildren, Berklie and River (Courtney); siblings, Ron (Linda) Crabb and Charlotte (Wayne) Anderson, as well as a host of extended family and friends.

So sorry to hear of Sharon's passing. Loved working with Sharon and HyVee and considered her a spare mom. She always asked about our kids when we'd run into her at HyVee after she retired. I know God has many wonderful things planned for her and I can't wait to see her again some day. Prayers to you and the rest of the family Larry.
