Sharon Gibson
February 04, 2021
Sharon Kay Gibson, age 69, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
Sharon was born March 2, 1951 in Hampton, Iowa to Robert and Jeanette (Folkerds) Hayner. Sharon was one of a kind. Anyone she met quickly became her friend; she didn’t know a stranger. She was her kids and grandkids’ greatest cheerleader, attending every sporting event, and supporting them to the fullest. She was her family’s biggest fan! She cheered them on from near and far. She was the glue for the entire family, from her siblings to her own children. Her love also extended to her crush, Elvis. She always claimed he was her “boyfriend”. Sharon enjoyed the outdoors and loved taking her family camping and fishing. Many hours were spent watching gameshows. But above all else, family was the most important thing in her world.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Jr. (Patti) Gibson and James (Pam) Gibson; grandchildren, Austin (Mariah), Dacoda, and Kyle; great-granddaughter, Mya; siblings, Gene Hayner, Suzie Hayner, Steven Hayner, Mary Adams, and Mike Hayner; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jeanette Hayner; her husband, Larry Gibson Sr.; and her brother, Dale Hayner.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021, also at Hamilton’s, and will conclude with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Sharon.
Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

My heart goes out to the Gibson's. Sharon was like my 2nd momma growing up. She always treated me as one of her own children (the best behaved one forsure). Please let me know if you need anything. RIP Sharon give my momma a hug for me, I know you all are catching up.
