Peter S. Vitiritto
January 21, 2021
Peter S. Vitiritto, 67, passed away at home surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on January 21, 2021. The son of Michael and Phyllis Vitiritto, Pete was born in Des Moines on September 18, 1953.
Pete was a North High graduate. He eventually went on to own and operate his own business, Quality Auto Trim. Mr. Trim (Pinstripe Pete) was very good at his job, but even better at making friends in and around the business. He thoroughly enjoyed visiting all his regular stops and always had a smile on his face & a story to tell.
Pete enjoyed anything that involved his wife, kids, and grandchildren. Many good memories were made racing R/C cars, slot cars, working on his mustang, taking it to car shows and different racing events, and more recently taking up fishing and camping with the family.
Pete also made lifelong friendships with many as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was always eager to meet with friends at assemblies and conventions and did his best to encourage them, even when he was in poor health, up until the end. He had a strong faith & trust in Jehovah that he enjoyed sharing with ones he had known for years, or had just met in a laundry mat during his ministry. Pete loved his regular Friday nights with Tootie and their four granddaughters when they would all enjoy pizza. Then it was off to the basement to clean, count & inspect “pennies” (coins) and listen to music - as loud as it would go “to make the floor rumble”. Pete was also a great outdoorsman... well, not really, but he could easily catch the smallest fish in the pond with homegrown worms from his very own worm farm. He loved camping with his family all over Iowa and spent lots of time on the water, either at his pool (working on his tan) or on the lake which he truly enjoyed. One of his most memorable trips was to Maui, Hawaii with the family. He often talked about what a beautiful place it was and he didn’t want to leave once he got there.
Peter is survived by his loving wife, Tootie of 47 years who was with him every step of the way, His Son Ryan, Daughter-in-Law Libby, Daughter Ashley, Son-in-Law Josh Martz, and his Granddaughters Gianna, Ava (Ryan), Maci and Kyla (Ashley) and his beloved pup-companion, Jazzy. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed until we can all see him again!
A Zoom service will be on Saturday, February 6th at 2:00pm.

It's hard to imagine being at an assembly without his warm, and loud, greeting. We are both saddened to hear of your loss. Prayerfully, we add our support. Looking forward to the day we will greet him back.

Pete was a great friend and will be sorely missed. I'll miss listening to music with him at full blast like it should be listened to, his history lessons about Des Moines as we drove around town, his unexpected phone calls just because he was thinking of me, talking about cars, racing, and everything else...

Pete will always be close to our hearts. He was funny and he was so much fun to be with. His love for Jehovah was visible, especially when he talked to others about Him. We have beautiful memories with Pete and his family whom he loved very much. Especially his girls. We cant wait to see Pete in paradise and go camping and spend our days outside fishing. We will have so much to talk about.

I've always admired Pete. He was a fantastic guy to be around. Always had a smile on his face and liked to talk about cars with us at all the gatherings. Some of my favorite times with him was when Ryan was still working for Dale's and we would all meet up for lunch up the road at El Rodeo. Chicken fajita's, no vegetables, side of cheese was always the order. Good memories.

Pete was a great guy! He loved his family very much because he bragged about them all the time and shared with us his pictures of his beautiful family. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and raved about how he didnt deserve such a wonderful wife. He loved God, family, cars and coins, and probably in that order. We always enjoyed his visit when he came to see us at the coin shop, We will truly miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time of sorrow, mourning and loss of such a tremendous man.
