Peter S. Vitiritto
January 21, 2021
Peter S. Vitiritto, 67, passed away at home surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on January 21, 2021. The son of Michael and Phyllis Vitiritto, Pete was born in Des Moines on September 18, 1953.
Pete was a North High graduate. He eventually went on to own and operate his own business, Quality Auto Trim. Mr. Trim (Pinstripe Pete) was very good at his job, but even better at making friends in and around the business. He thoroughly enjoyed visiting all his regular stops and always had a smile on his face & a story to tell.
Pete enjoyed anything that involved his wife, kids, and grandchildren. Many good memories were made racing R/C cars, slot cars, working on his mustang, taking it to car shows and different racing events, and more recently taking up fishing and camping with the family.
Pete also made lifelong friendships with many as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was always eager to meet with friends at assemblies and conventions and did his best to encourage them, even when he was in poor health, up until the end. He had a strong faith & trust in Jehovah that he enjoyed sharing with ones he had known for years, or had just met in a laundry mat during his ministry. Pete loved his regular Friday nights with Tootie and their four granddaughters when they would all enjoy pizza. Then it was off to the basement to clean, count & inspect “pennies” (coins) and listen to music - as loud as it would go “to make the floor rumble”. Pete was also a great outdoorsman... well, not really, but he could easily catch the smallest fish in the pond with homegrown worms from his very own worm farm. He loved camping with his family all over Iowa and spent lots of time on the water, either at his pool (working on his tan) or on the lake which he truly enjoyed. One of his most memorable trips was to Maui, Hawaii with the family. He often talked about what a beautiful place it was and he didn’t want to leave once he got there.
Peter is survived by his loving wife, Tootie of 47 years who was with him every step of the way, His Son Ryan, Daughter-in-Law Libby, Daughter Ashley, Son-in-Law Josh Martz, and his Granddaughters Gianna, Ava (Ryan), Maci and Kyla (Ashley) and his beloved pup-companion, Jazzy. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed until we can all see him again!
A Zoom service will be on Saturday, February 6th at 2:00pm.

Pete and I grew up in the same neighborhood. We both graduated from NHS in '72. I will always remember his great sense of humor and his singing! He was in my homeroom as a senior and he would sing almost every morning. My sympathy to all his family and friends.

off and on for 18 years I got the privilege of conversation and friendship of Pete. He was a master of his craft and a damn good man. He will be missed in our business. To his family, no words can lessen the pain of his passing, cherish his memory and the lessons he taught. Prayers and respect.
