Terry Lee Butts, age 71, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at his home. He was born the son of Marion and Geraldine Butts on March 30, 1949.

Terry graduated from East High School and worked for AMF. He was an avid sports fan, he loved basketball, football especially the Kansas City Chiefs. Some of his hobbies and interests included, going to the casino, bowling, fishing, and hunting. Terry truly enjoyed life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by all.

Those he has left to mourn his death include his daughter, Damita Thomas; grandchildren, Cory and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Ja’Neajah and Ja’Miya; sister, Judy Butts; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Terry was preceded in death by his father, Marion Butts; mother, Geraldine Butts; sister, Marilyn Smith; and brothers, Nathan Butts and Marion Butts.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with funeral service to begin at 11 a.m., Friday, January 29, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
