Ruth E. Morris, 85, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola. Ruth was born on February 28, 1935 to Henry Terrell and Anna Belle Shelton in Des Moines, but she lived most of her married life in Elkhart.
Ruth was a stay-at-home housewife and mother who dearly loved her family and tenderly cared for them. She had a sweet, gentle spirit and was kind-hearted to all. She was dearly loved in return by family and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; four brothers: Leslie, Hank, Kenneth and Jack; and great-grandson, Bodey. She is survived by two daughters, Edith (Peter) Falls of Springville, CA and Julie (Gary) Parisho of New Virginia, IA; one son, Tony (Kay) of Maxwell; grandchildren: Shawna, Brendan, Dawna, Shannon (Marty), Nina, and Rease; great-grandchildren: Breyen, Tyler, Riley, Eliana, and Aiden; great-great-grandchildren: Averi and Abigail. She is also survived by her sister, Marguerite Gross of Des Moines as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Janaury 20, 2021, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 21, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Elkhart Christian Church, 252 NW Washington Ave., Elkhart. Burial will follow at Elkhart Cemetery. Please wear a mask.
Memorial contributions received by the family will be donated to charitable organizations dear to Ruth’s heart. Or, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in her name.

I was blessed not only to be the niece of this angel on earth, but have the great honor of being her namesake.
She truly had one of the purest hearts and sweetest natures of anyone I have ever met. Every thought and every memory of her will be a healing in itself for all who knew her.

I was sorry to hear about Ruth. She was a great person, a great neighbor, and a second mom to my son when we were living in Elkhart. Please accept my sincere condolences.
