Jeffrey David Summers, Sr.

Jeffrey D. “Jeff” “Big Daddy” Summers, Sr., age 43, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, January 8, 2021.

Jeff was born April 21, 1977 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He had a great sense of humor and was very fun-loving. He had the best smile and an infectious laugh. He was a huge Bears fan and was known as the #1 Sign Guy. Jeff had a strong work ethic and he enjoyed golf, fishing, baseball, football, Nascar, and spending time with his baby girl, Cheyenne.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca; children, Cheyenne Summers (Noah Lane), Jeffrey Summers, Jr., Sarah (Carl) Siefkas, and Lynn (Turner) Paul; grandchildren, Makaylyn and Hayzley; mother and father, Linda Summers and Mike Gilbertson; father, David (Susan) Summers; sister, Jennifer Summers; aunt, Pam Veach; niece and nephews, Casey, Codie, Corey, and Carter; great nieces and nephews; best friend, Scott Larimer; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Jeff was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roy Sam Veach; mother-in-law, Helen Van Zandt; and his best friend, Charlie “Bimbo” Edrington.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Bears apparel is encouraged.
