Marilyn Jean Hoffman, age 79, departed this life on January 5, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society in Indianola, Iowa.

Marilyn was born November 21, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Robert Harper and Verlin Smith. She was a 1960 graduate of L. B. Landry High School. She enjoyed being in the club Classy Celebrities, cooking for family and friends, travelling, hosting family gatherings, and taking the occasional trip to the Casino.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Jack C. Hoffman III (Doris); grandchildren, Corbin and Melissa Hoffman; sister, Karen Stewart; aunt, Rita Mae Johnson; step-siblings, Sandra Alexander, Sharon Sylve, Myrna Harper, Lisa Gabriel, Deirdre Hillard, Darrilyn Smith, Darren Harper, and Ronald Harper Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. Hoffman Jr.; her parents, Robert Harper and Verlin Smith; her sisters, Jacqueline Harper and Marva Harrison; and her step-siblings, Robert Harper Jr. and Donald Harper Sr.

According to Marilyn’s son’s wishes, cremation will occur and there will be a celebration of life scheduled at a later date in New Orleans.
