Karlous Willemetta Jackson Griffin was born to Harold Jackson and Mrytle Lee Dameron Jackson Sr. on January 16, 1946. Karlous was the fifth of nine children.

She graduated from East High School in Des Moines. Karlous worked all her life and retired from Crystal Manor after 20 years of service as a cook.

Karlous was a mother and a mentor for many. She could tell you so many stories of her life. She spoke her mind and meant everything that she said. Karlous was a very proud little lady. She lived her life without any regrets. She was the life of the party, AKA Corporate.

Karlous passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the age of 74.

Karlous is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mrytle Dameron Jackson, Sr. Also five siblings: Jackie Lee, Patricia Joanne, Harold Robert, Finnis B. and Ronnie Lee Jackson and her granddaughter, Savannah Jackson.

Her surviving siblings are Helena Florence Jackson, Mrytle Irene Jackson Jr., and Judithann Jackson, all of Des Moines, Iowa; two beautiful daughters, Telanda Watley Newsome (Isaac) and Dana Jackson (Greg), both of Des Moines, Iowa; two step-children, Amanda and Chester Watley, Jr.; five grandsons, Jermale and Brandon Watley, Kevin and Teyontae Jenkins, and Jermaine Jackson; and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
