Donna Keul, 84, passed away on December 29, 2020. She was born in Melcher, Iowa on October 27, 1936.
Donna was a co-owner of Donna’s lounge on the Southside of Des Moines along with her late husband, Larry for 38 years. Donna was also a co-owner of Coney Corner at the Iowa State Fair along with her two sisters for 43 years. She loved playing cards, bingo, joining her husband at classic car shows, watching Iowa State play football and basketball, and spending time with her loved ones.
Donna is survived by her children, Holly (Rick) Hawxby, Mike Brookes, Larry Jr., (Michele) Keul, Kurt (Lisa) Keul and Melissa (Alvie) Allen; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and a host of beloved family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; and brother, Rick.
The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Dallas Cemetery in Melcher-Dallas, Iowa.

As kids, we always enjoyed hanging around Donna and the other "Smith sisters" during Melcher visits and at family reunions. And though we had nothing to do with it ourselves, we took great pride in our entrepreneurial cousins' state fair booths.

So very sorry to hear of Linda's passing. Alot of memories of stopping by Donna's Lounge with my friend Johnny Dhabalt and having a few cold ones. Donna always had something cooking to share with the customers. God Bless All the Family and may Donna rest in Peasce.
