Konner B. Mongar

Konner Bruce Mongar, age 18, passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 2020 after a courageous lifelong battle with leukemia.
Konner was born October 13, 2002 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Lincoln High School. Konner loved playing basketball and Dragon Ball Z. He was a huge LeBron James fan, including the Lakers. He was extremely proud of his basketball shoe collection.
He is survived by his mother, Janel Burke; father, Denny Mongar; sister, Kacie (Brandon Thomas) Mongar; grandparents, Rita (Mark) Duncan, Debra (Terry) Davis, and Kathy Mongar; aunts and uncles, Jon (Brandy) Burke, Dina Hoffman, Trisha Peel (Roger Inlow), Marcy (Mike) Stephens, David (Marcy) Mongar, Danny (Alma) Davis, and Sara Mongar; and numerous cousins and best friends.
Konner was preceded in death by his grandpas, Casey Burke and Steve Mongar.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021, with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2021 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th St, Des Moines. Konner will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery after the services. For those guests who wish to attend the services virtually, there will be a livestreaming option available through Christ the King’s Facebook page.

Janel, I am so sorry for your loss! I cant even imagine what you are going thru! I have known you and your sis and mom since we were in grade school! I remember you and I going for a walk around greys lake a few years back and talking to me about Konner! You were and are a GREAT mother and I know you endured alot by yourself! Janel & Denny, I want to thank you both for bringing Konner into my life. You both know that Konner and I had a pretty amazing bond from the moment the 3 of us watched him come into this world. Konner was the BRAVEST-STRONGEST- MOST COURAGEOUS young man I will EVER know!!
