Caroline Sue Bartlow

Caroline Sue Bartlow, age 70, passed away on December 23, 2020. Caroline was born the daughter of Rena Kathryn Bartlow on September 15, 1950 in Adel, Iowa.

Caroline lived at Woodward State Hospital School in Woodward, Iowa from age 2 to age 22. Caroline then lived at Melody Manor in Des Moines, Iowa for 4 years before moving to Hill Group Home in Des Moines, Iowa where she lived for 25 years. She then moved into her own apartment in West Des Moines, Iowa. Caroline held several jobs but enjoyed working for Koalaty Time in West Des Moines, Iowa for 11 years as she loved to work with children. She would sit with the babies while they were napping and patted them on their backs if they woke up. Caroline began with Link Associates in West Des Moines in 2002 and when she retired in 2015 she began Link Day Program.

Caroline always had a smile on her face as she was a very happy person by nature. You never walked away without feeling anything but lighter because of the joy she carried with her and shared. Caroline loved to color and write notes to her many friends. Caroline enjoyed going to church and was a member of Valley Church in West Des Moines, Iowa. She enjoyed going to camp at Wesley Woods in Indianola, Iowa during the summer where she loved to do crafts, singing, coloring, taking photos and meeting people.

Caroline lived with her roommates for 7 years and they became part of her extended family. Caroline had a passion of taking photos of all her friends and people she met. She had an excellent memory for faces and names to go with them of all she met. She will be greatly missed as she was truly an angel here on earth.

Caroline is survived by all of her many friends that she considered family to her. Caroline is proceeded in death by her mother Rena.

Caroline’s final resting spot will be at Oralabor Cemetery in Ankeny, Iowa.
