Gene and I had a special connection. He joined the Navy a year after I got out. He was an Electronics Technician as I and also served on the USS Gridley DLG21 as I. So we had a lot in common to talk about. Gene was always the first to volunteer to help anyone. He enjoyed working with me as he did with all his team members and even volunteered in other markets. You could always count on Gene.
Working with Gene at times he would be on the phone with his wife and always ended the call with "I love you" a testament to a long loving marriage. My condolences to Kathy. You lost a great husband, soulmate and best friend. We all lost a good friend who will be missed very much.

I worked in the field with Gene at US Cellular throughout the last 20 years.
He was full of piss and vinegar and never missed an opportunity to help someone. 😊
He was fair and kind.
He was funny and a softie at heart.
Sending hugs and deepest sympathies to Gene's children, wife and entire family.
He was a special character and will be missed by so many.
RIP Gene.

My condolences and prayers to Gene's family. I had the
pleasure to work with Gene for many years. He always brought a
"can-do" attitude to any situation. I enjoyed our spirited
conversations about college football or Yankees baseball. Gene was definitely one
of a kind and will be missed.

First I would like to offer my sincere sympathy to you Kathy and your family. Gene was not only a co-worker he was a great friend. He not only was always there to help me with work issues, but with any personal help I may have needed. I will miss our occasional get togethers for coffee or lunch. I am grateful I was able to work with him again, a few times earlier this year before he retired. As you can see from the tributes from co-workers and friends, Gene left a impression that will not soon be forgotten. R. I. P. Gene!

So so sad to hear of Genes passing. Gene and I spent many hours working projects, traveling or just talking about his experiences in the navy. I loved the way Gene was a straight shooter and told you exactly what he was thinking. Gene was always ready to lend a hand no matter what. It seems like yesterday we visited about his next chapter when retirement set in. I am blessed to have known Gene. Honored to call Gene my friend. Our deepest sympathy.
