John Allan Berg

John Allan Berg, 82, passed away at Iowa Methodist Medical Center on Sunday, August 30, 2009 while in the presence of family.
He was born March 14, 1927 to Adolph and Amanda Berg in St. Paul, Minnesota. John lived and attended school in Hanska, MN. He served his country in WWII in the United States Navy. John, a graduate of the Minneapolis Art Institute, devoted his entire career of 38 years to Meredith Publishing, starting as an artist and then as Art Director for the Better Homes and Gardens Book Division. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, and bridge player.
John is survived by his wife of 59 years Leila; four children, David (Nancy) of Milwaukee, WI, Dan (Cindy) of Carlisle, IA, Eric (Deb) of Robins, IA, Marty (Lisa) of Westfield, MA; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa.
