Thomas E. Campbell

Thomas Eugene Campbell was born June 8, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa to Charles and Hila Campbell. He graduated from North High School in 1955. He was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area, with the exception of four years of military service in the United States Navy stationed in Dallas, Texas and Kansas City, Missouri. Tom worked as a warehouseman/truck driver for AY McDonald Supply Co. for 27 years prior to his retirement in 2002. Tom was a member of Eastside Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed being involved in his church and sang in the church choir. He was an avid sports fanatic and a car enthusiast. He especially loved his’55 Chevy Bel Air, and watching NASCAR racing. Tom enjoyed vacationing and traveling. Above all he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Tom passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the age of 83. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Karen (Kevin) Bernard, Shelly (Tim) Sikes, Cindy (John) Sandblom, and Tracey Backstrom; 17 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Deana “Sue” Campbell; his parents, Charles and Hila Campbell; sister, Joyce Richards; grandsons, Ryan Reinier and Matthew Sandblom; and his great-grandchildren, Cheyanne Camp and Eric Reinier.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Eastside Church of the Nazarene, 1451 E 25th Street, Des Moines, and will conclude with interment at Pine Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Eastside Church of the Nazarene in loving memory of Tom. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

I played "zilllions""of rounds of miiature golf w/Tom in the late 50's. In1962 he was Best-man in our wedding. He was a great guy.

To Campbell family my dad Jon Schneider and his brothers were very good old friends with your dad. they all had so much fun together back in the old good old days ! boy the stories i heard! its so hard to say goodbye but know there is a new angel in heaven singing in the choir Tommy leading the way! with his beautiful smile peace and love toall of the family and know heaven is so much closer than you think
